High School and Beyond: Preparing for a New School Year with COVID19

This program will be a round table discussion to bring together high school, academic and public librarians to talk about issues relating to student preparation for the new school year. Libraries faced a huge amount of uncertainty from COVID19 in the spring which continues into the fall. How can libraries insert themselves better into the curriculum to become active educational partners with classroom teachers? What has gone right in the crisis?  What have we learned and what opportunities are available in a new environment? What gaps have you noticed as you pivoted to remote education? How did you engage administration in support of libraries? Were you not able to do this?

We will also be soliciting potential questions for discussion ahead of time. There will be no presentations but we will be facilitating a lively discussion focused on how to better reach students in high school and college. This is an opportunity for individuals to share what they have learned and learn more about some best practices. We also plan to have a follow up meeting in December with a speaker about online learning and a discussion.
