Social Media Engagement for Cultural Institutions

The public expects to engage with institutions through various platforms, including blogs, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.  Yet institutions often face significant obstacles in this work, form a lack of technological infrastructure to limited staff time and knowledge.  In this workshop, we will discuss: the benefits and challenges of social media, blogging as a platform for engagement, best practices for running an intuitional blog, what types of post draw engagement, cross-platform promotion, and how to create your own blog.
