Join Chris Jelley at his home library of North Merrick Public Library.  Chris will show participants how he saved his library money by having his OPACs run off of Raspberry Pi computers instead of PC computers.  Chris will also show how he makes and runs "headache free" digital signage with Raspberry Pi.  After the workshop Chris will lead a tour of North Merrick Public Library so attendees can see the Raspberry Pi computers in action.

On top of learning how to create Raspberry Pi OPACs and digital signage participants will learn the following:

  • Getting staff/community buy in;
  • How to keep RasPi secure/updated;
  • Costs and cost benefits;
  • User experience; and
  • Realities of mixed OS environments.
Attendees should have an expert level understanding of computers.  Having an understanding of Linux is helpful but not required.

Your registration fee includes (1) Raspberry Pi device and accessories for you to bring back to your library.
