First Program with Q&A

• Dental Instruments Past and Present: The Digital Preservation of a Physical Exhibit with Jamie Saragossi, Head of Health Sciences Library, Stony Brook University. She will discuss her current project cataloging historical dental equipment and beginning an online collection for SBU libraries.

• Minding the Archive: The Max Fink Papers at Stony Brook University with Kristen Nyitray, Director of Special Collections and University Archives for Stony Brook University. She will talk about her journey processing the collection of Dr. Max Fink, neurologist, author and professor emeritus at Stony Brook University. Dr. Fink has received numerous awards and has published seminal works on the topics of electroconvulsive therapy, psychoactive drugs, catatonia and melancholia.

Second Program: Lightening round/panel discussion with Q&A

All Medical Archives Are Not Alike: Three Repositories, Three Variations with:

Arleen Shaner, Historical Collections Librarian at the New York Academy of Medicine
Barbara Niss, Archivist for the Mt. Sinai Medical School Archives
Stephen Novak, Head of Archives & Special Collections at Columbia University’s Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library
