Part-Time Children's Librarian - North Bellmore Public Library

The North Bellmore Public Library is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic part-time  librarian for our busy Children’s Room. The successful candidate must be friendly, hard working and well versed in children’s literature, with a demonstrated commitment to  continuing education. Applicants must be knowledgeable about social media and comfortable  working with technology and providing online programming content to the community.  Schedule includes daytime and evening hours as well as a Saturday rotation. 

∙ Provide reference and reader’s advisory services using print, non-print and electronic resources ∙ Create and conduct both virtual and in-person storytimes and other library programs for school  age children, including special populations
∙ Assist with professional level skills needed to keep the department running smoothly (i.e.  weeding collection, updating Children’s Room blog, creating booklists, etc.)
∙ Work collaboratively with co-workers on projects and programs as well as develop and conduct  innovative programs for children independently 

∙ MLS from ALA accredited school
∙ Valid NYS Public Librarian’s Certificate
∙ Experience working with children (birth – 6th grade) and families
∙ Excellent computer and technology skills, including social media
∙ Positive, proactive customer services skills, along with flexibility and initiative ∙ Experience with Sierra, Encore and Eventkeeper  


∙ $33.30 per hour
