Interlibrary Loan Service

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) remains a basic service of LILRC.

Member libraries may go point to point to libraries in the region, but many still prefer to send their interlibrary loan requests through LILRC. Indeed, some major institutions (notably Stony Brook University) require that requests from libraries in the region be sent through LILRC.

The Council’s expert searchers use the resources of OCLC, Docline, British Library, and other services in their diligent pursuit of needed materials. For their part, libraries are urged to provide complete and accurate citations. To consult the latest (2001) edition of LILRC’s Interlibrary Loan Manual, click here

LILRC subsidizes most United Parcel Service (UPS) delivery charges for ILL within the region. Fax, email, and first class mail are used to send journal articles.

Libraries are invited to establish an ILL account with LILRC. Call (631) 632-6660, or send email to illdept@lilrc.org
