The Copyright Super Powers of Libraries

September 8 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Libraries should embrace their special role and privilege under copyright law.  We can call them Library Super Powers.  The naturally transformative nature of library work, combined with these Super Powers, creates an environment where libraries can and should take advantage of library-specific laws (and recent court decisions) to determine the varying risk levels surrounding their work, whether reproduction, digitization, interlibrary loan, or an array of multimedia programming and exhibits.  We can do more than we realize!  This session will explore the past, present, and future of copyright law in libraries through a fun, interactive session.

Presented by:
Kyle K. Courtney, Esq., Copyright Advisor, Harvard University
