We’ve Got The Numbers! Understanding and Finding Census Data and Mapping It

June 7 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

LILRC Government Information Committee Presents:
We’ve Got The Numbers! Understanding and Finding Census Data and Mapping It

Description:

Not everyone is aware that the Census Bureau does more than a 10-year count.  This workshop is divided into 4 sections: (1) An introduction that describes the difference between Census (Decennial) data and American Community Survey Statistics–a survey that has deep demographics, (2) How to search for data and interpret the different tables, (3) How to Map the data found in American Factfinder (portal), and (4) exercises given to those in the audience so that they may practice what was taught.

Speaker:
David Kraiker has worked at the Census Bureau for more than 20 years – first as a geographer, and more recently as a data dissemination (outreach) specialist.   He travels around greater NYC and New York State giving workshops and presentations on data and mapping.   He holds a BA from Clark University and MSc from Rutgers-Newark.
