Metadata for Digitization Using the Metadata Dictionary and the New York Heritage Metadata Template

What is Metadata?  Metadata is a fundamental element of any digitization project.  Designed for non-cataloguers, this session focuses on using metadata to facilitate both access to and preservation of digital resources.  Topics include Dublin Core Metadata Schema, the development of a preservation metadata model, and using it to store metadata.  Examples of how to use Dublin Core metadata with ContentDM software using the New York Heritage template and the New York Heritage Metadata Dictionary.
