* Terence K. Huwe, columnist, 'Computers in Libraries'; Director of Library and Information Resources, Institute for Research on Labor & Employment, University of California, Berkeley
* Lee Rainie, Director, Pew Internet & American Life Project
> Title: Surviving in the new information ecology
Description: Lee will discuss the Pew Internet & American Life
Project's latest research findings and why they suggest that libraries
can play a role in people's social networks in the future. He will
describe the reasons that people rely more and more on their social
networks - using old and new technology -- as they seek information,
share ideas, learn, solve problems, and look for social support. He'll
describe why the internet and cell phones have changed the way people
construct and operate their social networks and why this opens new
opportunities for librarians to do what they naturally do: act as
'nodes' in people's networks.
* Siva Vaidhyanathan, University of Virginia
