About us

The Long Island Library Resources Council (LILRC) is one of New York’s nine Library Resources Systems.  LILRC is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt not for profit organization.   It is chartered by the New York State Board of Regents.  The Council was incorporated in 1966 and received its absolute charter in June 1971 as the Reference and Research Library Resources Council (3Rs) for Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

The council is a regional multi-type library organization serving academic, hospital, special, public, and school libraries, library systems, museums and historical societies in Nassau and Suffolk counties.  Our purpose is to enhance access to information, encourage resource sharing, promote innovation in libraries, and advocate for library interests.

LILRC is the administrator of the following New York State grants for Suffolk and Nassau County: Hospital Library Service Program (HLSP) and the Medical Information Services Program (MISP).
