Vision / Mission / Goals and Objectives

Vision Statement

LILRC is a leading force in shaping library and information policy on Long Island and New York State, and it is a primary source for resource sharing, and for the support, training and continuing education of library personnel.

Mission Statement

LILRC’s mission is to promote, develop and enhance resource sharing, conduct training and continuing professional development programs, and engage in other cooperative activities for the benefit of the diverse libraries and their clientele in Nassau and Suffolk counties in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Goals and Objectives

Communication
    To inform our members about technological, legislative, political, social, cultural and other developments as they affect libraries.

Resource Sharing
    To continually improve the resource sharing mechanisms established to connect member libraries.

Professional Development
    To provide continuing education opportunities for member libraries and their staff.

Advocacy
    To advocate the role and needs of the library community to legislative bodies, the business community, and the public.
